Could Quartz (or any piezoelectric substance) imploded with explosives produce an EMP?

Your hypothesis is likely correct, but not testable as even weak explosions produce some EMP, so the EMP from the quartz (or other piezo electric material) would be hidden by the stronger EMP from the implosion. Neil
